Nate’s Story:

I was first introduced to kava from a friend in college and instantly fell in love with the effects of it and the atmosphere of a kava bar. Being a shy person growing up, kava helped me open up and be more outgoing. The kava bar is where I’ve met some of the nicest people and being around a relaxed, social atmosphere helped me mature as a person.

Soon, I was fortunate enough to get a bartending job at Island Vibes in West Palm Beach. It was one of those jobs that never felt like work to me. Not long after, I realized that I grew a passion for it and I dreamed of having my own kava bar one day.

I was lucky to have great mentors in Dave, Harri, Rico, and Anton to show me every detailed aspect of the operation, and for giving me the opportunity to pursue what I loved.

One day, I was checking in on Jason, one of my good friends since middle school; I talked to him about my dream of opening a kava bar. He liked the idea of opening an Island Vibes with me, and we were able to give back to the community that helped me more than I could ever ask for.

Jason’s Story:

I grew up in Connecticut and frequented Rhode Island in the summer time. I got my start in the workforce on a 6-man charter fishing boat while in high school and worked alongside the captain for 6 years. This job was a great opportunity to learn the importance of customer service and these lessons will stick with me for a lifetime.

Having met Nate in middle school we have had a great system of trust and understanding built for years. I also worked on Marco Island where I was shift lead for a boat rental company which reinforced the importance for customer service.

The opportunity to open an Island Vibes is fitting since we both have hands on experience and love curating a happy, stress free environment where folks can feel comfortable with themselves and the people around them. I love a good shell and feeling relaxed and stress free. The Island Vibes community is very supportive to each other and are always there for anyone at anytime! I have met wonderful people and could not be happier joining the Vibes team.
